"I want to thank Atlanta Photography Group for asking me to juror the Only in 2004 exhibition this October in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. After viewing over 83 photographers and 150 photographs, I am proud to remark that there are many exceptional and talented photographers in APG. It was difficult to select only 56 photographs, but I wanted to create an exhibition that was visually thought provoking with a conceptual edge. With this specific curatorial direction, the exhibition was arranged to flow from one wall to another. I further selected photographs based on the following criteria; works with a strong narrative quality; works that were well executed, printed, and presented (framing); works that used alternative processes with a painterly and surreal quality; and lastly, works that were direct with strong composition elements. As I began eliminating from the group, the exhibition began to form with a life of its own. I am impressed with the professionalism and quality of the artwork submitted for this exhibition. APG should be commended for its continual program of excellence."
