Myra Greene leads the August meeting of the Critique Group. Greene is an associate professor in the Spelman College Department of Art and Visual Culture and oversees the new photography major there. Greene enjoys exploring photographic processes that engage issues about the body, memory, the absorption of culture and the ever-shifting identity of African Americans. Prior to joining the Spelman faculty, she served as an associate professor at Columbia College in Chicago. Greene has received an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Photography and has completed residencies at Light Work in Syracuse New York and the Center for Photography at Woodstock. Her work is in the permanent collection of Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas.

Critique Group is for APG members only, but we welcome an exploratory visit. Participants are limited to 6 prints, no larger than 16” x 20”-ish. If you’d like to present your work, put your name on the sign-up sheet when you arrive. Critiques are timed so everyone gets equal consideration. No work? No problem, observing is just as valuable.
